The team at Wolf Architects demonstrates a talent for both design and historic preservation, finding imaginative solutions for clients, whether working with existing buildings or new construction, or planning larger-scale endeavors. WA recognizes that we are helping to create an environment for present and future generations, often while working with structures inherited from the past.
Sustainability is primary, as demonstrated by our LEED-Silver "Sustainable Urban Villa, " by our creative re-use of countless historic buildings, and by plans for a net-zero energy recreational facility with an indoor swimming pool designed by vice-president Frederick A. Soule, AIA.
Projects at WA involving historic buildings benefit from our expert knowledge of the architecture of the past-from the 18th to the mid-20th century- from our appreciation for and sensitivity to the unique elements and individual character of old buildings, from our sound judgment regarding intervention and reuse, and from our design skill.

Gary established his own office - now Wolf Architects - in Boston in 1992 in order to take on projects involving both new design and historic preservation. This dual focus developed from his education at Cornell, the University of Virginia, and Princeton, where he received masters degrees in both architecture and architectural history.
Frederick A. Soule, AIA, is Vice President and Senior Architect at Wolf Architects. After first working with Gary for several years starting in 1987, Fred subsequently had significant roles in several offices, most recently McGinley Kalsow & Associates, where he was responsible for several major historic preservation projects.
