When it comes to ecological aspects of the design, we match the project's green goals with the client's green aspirations. There is very little in the world of ecobuilding that we have not done already. We can bring that expertise to your project. Most of our clients want to incorporate the green features that make sense for them, that they value the most.
In a word, our approach is collaborative. For more than 21 years, we have honed a set of practices to best meet the unique needs of each client and make the design process as smooth as possible. We firmly believe that active listening is key to the success of a project and the delight of the client.
If you are contemplating your first building project, you know that you probably need an architect, but what will this relationship entail? How do you begin, and what, exactly, should you expect? Every architecture firm is different, but we thought we'd share how we typically do things at VELOCIPEDE to give you a sense of what it's like to hire and work with an architect.
Selecting your architect is an important decision. Most clients build only once or a handful of times, so finding the right architect for your big project is essential to its success. Chemistry is the most important criterion for selecting your architect. You will be working closely with him for months or years.
1818, Baron Karl von Drais (German): wood frame, two wood wheels with steering, iron bands for tires, riders would sit astride the frame and push with their feet on the ground. 1839, Kirkpatrick MacMillan (Scottish): added cranks pushed by hand to drive the rear wheel. Our principal earned his first paycheck in a bicycle shop, has been a bicycle commuter for over three decades, and pedaled across the USA from Virginia to Oregon back in 1984.

George with Velocipede architects was wonderful! My dad was restarting a home remodel project that stopped about 10 years ago. I hired George for a consultation. He came out to the house at 9:00 am this morning, discussed the project with us, and by 11am, we had the reinstated permit from City of Seattle!! I can't thank you enough George!!
