In 2006, A Smooth Move was founded by Brian and Kimberly Alwin to fulfill a community need-to offer moving services centered around the needs of older adults. Since then, A Smooth Move has faithfully served Rochester, MN with a caring approach and its attention to detail.
Our #1 goal is to make moving easy for older adults. That is why we provide services you won't find with a standard moving company. We offer packing and transportation services, decluttering, cleaning, sorting & downsizing, furniture setup, and post-move services. We will even install floor and door jamb protectors.
Because each client is different, your move can be customized according to the services you need. A Smooth Move helps families during moves of loved ones with dementia. We have specialized training in this field. Services
On average, our moves take 1-1 days depending on whether or not our packing services are enlisted. Clients begin the moving process with our free consultation. During this consultation, we will discuss the needs, concerns, and plans for the move, as well as give a quote for the move. Consultations are free for local clients but are charged for out-of-area clients.
When we prepare to downsize, we use green- or red-colored stickers to easily designate "keep" and "donate/toss" items, which leaves no room for confusion or misplaced items. When we sort, we also take care to go through items one-by-one to assure everything has been accounted for and nothing is hidden or missed.
When was the last time you moved? Most of our clients haven't moved in 40 years or more. When it comes to the needs of older adults, A Smooth Move specializes in taking care of the details from start to finish. We even hang pictures, make the beds, and set the clocks. We also help assemble furniture and install door jambs and other features.
We offer packing and unpacking services that pay special attention to the needs of older adults. We keep track of belongings, carefully sort them, and pack them up safely and securely as part of our detail-oriented process. We also offer unpacking services to our clients. We will help unload, unpack, place, and tidy as directed by our clients.
As a post-move service, we provide a deep clean-out for the homes our clients vacate. Once we move all the client's belongings into the new location, we deep-clean the now-empty house and donate or toss discarded items. By the time we are finished, the home is fully prepared for its new occupants. This service is also great for cleaning out hoarder homes.

I contacted A Smooth Move in Rochester MN for a move that needed to be done quickly. They were very courteous and efficient. Even tho I had a small window of time to work with, they met my needs and deadline!!!!
