Since 1919, Metcalf Moving & Storage has specialized in handling the moving needs of families and businesses in Minnesota and beyond. Metcalf Moving & Storage is headquartered not far from where Allen & Elna Metcalf started the business in 1919. Elna set up moves from the kitchen and Allen designed and built the first van body on an REO Speed Wagon.
Their son, Allen Metcalf Jr., purchased the business from his father in 1951, after returning from a tour of duty with the US Army during the Korean conflict. In order to better serve our long-distance customers, we became an agent for Mayflower Transit in 1967. Then, in 1972 we expanded, opening an office and warehouse in Rochester, MN.
After working for Metcalf Moving & Storage for 31 years, Jon Archbold purchased the company from the Metcalf family in 2003. Under his leadership, we have continued to serve our customers with service that is unsurpassed. Metcalf Moving & Storage is a multi-year winner of awards from Mayflower Transit including the Heart of Quality Award, Performance Excellence Award, and the Customer Choice Award.

Fantastic experience, Stephanie was always quick to respond to questions/emails. The delivery driver was professional and thoughtful. He made sure the container was placed in the correct location and used additional pieces of wood to ensure no damage was done to the driveways. Much more affordable then competitors with like products. Would 10/10 recommend and would use again if needed!

Best moving company around! This is our 2nd time using Metcalf. The crew we had was fantastic. They worked so hard, were super friendly and helped any time they saw me trying to pick up a box, and most importantly contributed to a positive moving experience. Love that Metcalf provides boxes for pick-up to utilize for your move and then you simply return them. I would recommend them for any size move. Simply the best!

These guys moved my mom in April to Florida. I wish I knew their names, but these guys on the Minnesota end were awesome! (not sure how the crew in Florida was, but heard no complaints) She had a lot of big, heavy things with one piece which had to be lowered off the deck from the 2nd story to the ground. They always had a cheerful attitude and were extremely professional. I would of been crabby by the end, but they kept moving fast with smiles on their face. I would highly recommend them!!

The guys on the moving crew were friendly and condiderate, and very aware of Making sure the customer is happy and satisfied. Great to work with, nothing broken, hard workers. They were fast, professional, and did a great job. Would definitely use them again.

The team was very efficient in moving us within Minneapolis. Great attention to detail and really considerate of our property and ensuring that nothing was damaged. Mark & Rich worked extremely well to move us from one building to another - they were in good spirits and were very focused on making sure that everything was arranged to our satisfaction. I will definitely call them for my next move!

Metcalf moving was amazing! From my first call with Aaron, the estimator to the day of pickup, everything went amazingly smooth. Aaron was patient and helpful, responsive, timely and efficient. He listened to our needs and made it happen affordably.
The pickup crew was also awesome. All 5 gentlemen were friendly, efficient, professional, conversational and took great caution and care with our items. My experience with Metcalf moving for my out of state move to Boise, Idaho has been fantastic. Pat the logistics coordinator didn’t miss a beat and is very responsive and timely. Chuck and Eduardo were my movers and were sure my items were carefully removed and were quick and efficient. Out of state moves are a lot of work so I really appreciated Metcalf making the loading and stage one of my move easy!
