The United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education is a national focal point for people passionate about early learning. It is a testament to the quality of the design and creativity of the project team that the building's scale, materials, and composition sit comfortably at the woodland edge, create a dialog with the adjacent music buildings, and quietly mark the entry to campus.
We wanted to promote healthy risk taking, cooperative and multi-age play, and have cozy spaces encouraging creative and dramatic play. This project will serve as a model for other housing authorities and early educators across this country. The landscape department at studioMLA transformed the Ellis Early Education Center's play space into a light and cheerful natural play space appropriate for infants and toddlers.

Founded in 2006, studioMLA Architects is an architecture, landscape, and interior design firm located in Brookline, Massachusetts. We value innovation, cost-effectiveness, and high-quality design. Currently, a firm of 18 employees we have architects, planners, interior designers, landscape architects, and marketers. Our culture of collaboration encourages all team members to learn from each other and be a part of all stages of project development under the guidance of more senior architects and project managers.
