Sykes Tree Service, located in Hilliard, OH was founded in 2006 and is owned and operated by James Sykes. Since starting the company, James' goal has been simple: to provide each and every customer with excellent, professional service at a competitive rate. Pruning, deadwood removal, full removals and stump grinding are just a small portion of what James can do.
We are a fully insured company and registered in the state of Ohio. James Sykes grew up a dairy farm in the Catskills of New York where he also helped his Grandfather and uncle with their tree Service, this is where he learned the trade. After high school he came to Columbus in 2000 to attend DeVry University where, in 2004, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
After getting a full time position at a local business, it was apparent that he still had a passion for working outside, being in the canopy and helping others. With his great work ethic and determination James grew his passion into a business.

Services
Early in a tree's life it is important to prune to encourage a dominate main-stem leader. This service also would include removal of diseased, rubbing and broken limbs. Every leaf is a source of food for the tree, so we always try to keep our wounds as small as possible while still meeting the needs of the tree and homeowners.

After calling a handful of tree stump removal companies that didn't bother to come out to quote us, I came across Sykes and they were out at our house the very same if not next day to survey and provide a quote. We were unsure and wanted to wait a few months to decide. They reached back out to us to let us know they were in the area if we were ready for the removal/stump grinding. They took care of everything in about 2 hours. They were very professional and cleaned everything up. Happy that we decided to use their services. Thanks James & co!

I contacted James with an unusual request if he could assist me with a kitten stuck in a tree. I left James a voicemail and he called me back right away. He said he would be happy to come and help me and arrived about 30 minutes later. He got the little guy out of the tree safety and when I asked him what the fee would be he said there would be no charge. James was very nice and I plan to use him for some services in the future.

We needed help with removal of a small tree in our backyard as well as some bushes. James was incredibly helpful. He was able to come by same day to give us a quote. We were on a tight schedule for this project and James fit us in within three days of us contacting him. The work was done perfectly, on time and at a reasonable price. Amazing customer service! James and his team have done excellent work for our family over the years. Our latest project involved removing two trees in a landscaping bed, removing the bed, grading the lawn, and then planting grass seed. James took the time to discuss various options and alternatives before settling on our course of action. Once on site, they worked quickly and did a great job. He's our only call when we need tree service.

James and crew were amazing to work with. We needed a couple of trees cut down, some large bushes removed, some trees pruned, and several stumps removed. They were prompt, professional, did fantastic work, and all at a fair price. As we went over the work for the estimate, James took the time to listen, answer any questions we had, and taught us a few things about the trees and plants on our property. We will be using them again in the future.

Sykes Tree Service provided exception service for a large 2-day job, skillfully trimming and pruning several tall, mature oak and beech trees to improve the tree canopy over my house. They carefully removed four trees from a large group of trees adjacent to my house, cleanly ground the stumps, and hauled away all debris. When finished, they thoroughly cleaned the area. James and Jason were pleasant and professional, working well with me and my adjacent neighbors. Beautiful work - thank you James and Jason.

It was a pleasure dealing with Sykes Tree Service. James was extremely professional and prompt in his response to my online request, and in his visit to review the job in question. He was very detailed in his explanation of what was required, and very fair in his pricing.
