We believe that the Earth is Sacred, and that by converting lawns, vacant lots, and farms into edible and medicinal poly-cultural ecosystems, we can together preserve, protect, and restore the basic elements that keep us all alive: Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit.
To bring about social and environmental transformation and healing through the work we offer on our farm, as well as education, advocacy, and implementation of low-maintenance, high-yielding, nature-based edible and medicinal landscapes on both macro and micro levels.

We believe that where there is abundance, there is beauty, and where there is healing, there is peace. We are initiating something that is 100% beneficial: to ourselves, our communities, and all the rest of the living communities that share this planet. The idea behind Sacred Earth Initiative is to create a food and medicine based revolution in which every household and community can share in the abundance of nature.
As founder of Sacred Earth Initiative (formerly Sacred Earth Edible Landscaping), Eran Shachar Rhodzell spends most of his time thinking about plants, and various ways to save the planet. His vision for the Midwest (and the world) includes nature-gardens and farms being shared by communities, spawning independence from the industrial mono-crop grain fields, and the restoration of the native prairie.
That October we began construction on our 27 sided, round, wooden 'yurt.' We wanted to build a house that would have as small a footprint as possible, while maximizing our square footage. The most efficient use of space is in a circle. But it turns out that construction in a round space is not at all simple!
Laughing Linden Farm is now the official honeybee sanctuary for the Save the Honeybee Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to raising honeybee awareness, developing and teaching holistic beekeeping methods, and providing pristine habitat for honeybees and other pollinators. Every donation the Foundation receives will go directly towards providing our farm with the plants and resources necessary for building up the sanctuary.
