SFIA research and publishing activities are expanding, especially in our support of the newly emerging "Green Building New Deal." These activities continue at our Alameda, California office: SFIA, Box 2590, Alameda, CA 94501. Registration for SFIA's online courses is now administered in the university town of Ruston, Louisiana.

SFIA has the nation's first and most comprehensive Eco-Design programs including distance learning and continuing education. SFIA is devoted to innovation and reform in architectural education, offering open classes and a Master of Architecture program to graduate students, architectural employees, practicing professionals, and those who have yet to start their architectural education.

SFIA is the only 100% sustainably focused architecture school with the longest running and most comprehensive ecological design and green architecture programs in the world. SFIA has been offering green building and ecological design degrees for twenty years as a wholly integrated part of its architecture degree programs.

To SFIA and Fred Stitt, an amazing program and advisor, whose support, guidance, and specialized degree program allowed me to explore new aspects of myself and sustainability. This program allowed me to be so much more than just a student; it allowed me to find a new passion in my life and open new potential futures for myself.
SFIA is a member of The U.S. Green Building Council. USGBC is a Washington D.C. based nonprofit organization committed to a prosperous and sustainable future for our nation through cost-efficient and energy-saving green buildings.
Experiencing great architecture is like enjoying the finest of natural environments. It rewards the senses. It sparks imagination and emotions. It inspires. It enhances consciousness. SFIA's mission is to provide that kind of experience in the process of architectural education. Hundreds of architects, artists, and technologists are working on this level.
The real architects are the young ones, regardless of age, with continuing enthusiasm, imagination, industry, inventiveness, curiosity and dedication to architecture for all people as their reason for being. By such examples we continue to renew faith in the creative spirit and its potentials. SFIA offers new alternatives in design education while retaining the best features of exceptional traditional schools.
Since its inception, SFIA has continually expanded to its curriculum and programs to stay current with new technologies and industry trends. In 2008, SFIA created the first major national and international green building conference, the Eco Wave and has held recurring workshops for design professionals and educators in over 50 cities across the U.S. Virtually every pioneer, innovator, and activist in ecological design has spoken at our events.

I enrolled with the San Francisco Institute of Architecture six years ago, for their Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree. Despite having been practicing as an architect for several years, the whole emphasis of Sustainable Architecture and Construction opened up a whole new world to me. I realised at the outset that their degrees were not accredited, but the knowledge I gained was enormously helpful to me, so much so that after completing my bachelors degree, I went on to do a combined Masters degree in Architecture and Green Building, which I completed at the end of last year. Sadly, this school is a scam.

Years ago, I enrolled in a distance learning program through SFIA. The entire coursework consisting of emailing the school my responses to a set of questions for each assigned book. Initially the school responded to my emails promptly and in some detail, but over time the response rate and quality declined dramatically, until there simply stopped even acknowledging the receipt of my emails. When I complained and asked for a refund (repeatedly) they ignored all my phone calls and emails.

Even if you do somehow manage to get a degree or certificate from SFIA, because
