Finding out we raccoons living in our chimney required a fast response and Capitol Chimney worked us into that day's schedule after another firm failed to show up. As our old chimney was built prior to the establishment of standard dimensions, Walter recommended a custom fabricated fitting on which he could install a standard chimney cap.

I can not rave enough about Capitol Chimney Service! They came out and provided an estimate fairly quickly with a price that wasn't over the top like other places! They weren't able to schedule us for a few weeks but anytime they had an opening they called to see if we were available which was great! Their employees, were friendly, knowledgeable and professional! Jennifer and Diana are amazing and kept me informed when there were changes to the plan!

It was a duplex unit. Both fireplaces had separate issues. One had a cracked fireplace insert & the other the handle would not close the cover all the way. Walter was able to quote me a price with some pics sent of the cracked insert. Said he would take a look at the other unit while he was there. We played abit of phone/text tag to schedule, but he repaired the cracked unit perfectly. With the other much older unit, all it was user error. The handle just had to be pushed up more firmly to seal. He waived off the separate $75 fee for that, which was cool... so I will use him again & can

I called to request an appointment and was cut off before I could ask anything with a brusque "we are booked a week out right now" before they hung up. I certainly understand being busy and I did not expect them to come out today. Guess it's nice to not need any new customers. Surprised there are so many good reviews, especially any reviews stating the owner is friendly. It certainly felt like my issue was not important to him.

I called Walter this morning about a fireplace /gas concern. He was able to drop by our home (in between his appointments) to assess the source of our concern. He was extremely professional, showed up on time and he provided an explanation of the problem and steps for repair in a clear and concise manner. Also very good with our dogs. I completely recommend Walter! He showed on time , was professional and personable. He educated me on what I needed for my fireplace and had it working in about 30 minutes. Walter saved me almost $2,000. What a great guy! I was essentially led astray by a different company and told I needed repairs. I called Walter and he ame by the next week to check out my fireplace, as he thought the quote was suspicious, and I did too. Turns out my fireplace was completely safe and needed no repairs. He filled in my fireplace with new embers, etc for a great price. He was very friendly, professional, and did the job cleanly and quickly.

We contacted Walter who told us if we wanted a quote to take pictures of our chimney or it would be 2 weeks before he could get to our house. We sent pictures and were given a quote. He came to our house to repair on a day when it was due to rain. He jumped on our roof and took off as it started to rain. We assumed he needed a part (he mentioned this prior to getting on the roof) so we patiently waited for him to call or text us back. Come Sunday I insisted my husband text him to see what was up. Walter provided timely, efficient services to all parts of our fireplace and chimney. He was prompt in responding to my initial request for an evaluation (two other sweeps did not respond at all) and completed all work recommended by a home inspector cheerfully and professionally. He replaced the chimney cap, spark arrestor, and ash door. He also applied a crown coat, cleaned the chimney, and vacuumed the dryer vent. When he was inside the house, he covered his area of work with a tarp so everything was kept clean. I highly recommend Walter and the services he provides.

I had one company come out on top of the phone book 2 weeks ago.
I told him I had a leak from my chimney into my house, he told me

Walter took the time to answer my questions and let me know that I didn't need to be concerned about some surface cracks that had been listed in our home inspection. He also gave me some advice about which logs to look for and gave me honest advice about the cost of upgrading the gas system I have. Walter is a master craftsman and the service was flawless. He resolved an issue with our fireplace in order to install gas logs. We spoke with other businesses about the repair and were expecting a significant expense. We were very fortunate to have found Walter! Although I felt the owner/technician was polite and professional, I felt I got robbed on the charge. For him to come out and check a few things, he charged $175! He didn't replace anything and just manually cleaned a sensor. Something I could have done and will from now on. $175 for 20 minutes of his time. If I need service on the gas fireplace again, I will look elsewhere.
