I have used Cropp Metcalfe on several occasions for plumbing and HVAC repairs. I also have a plumbing and HVAC service contract with them (pays for itself in a service call). With one exception, they have been able to come the same day and diagnose/fix my issue quickly and are upfront about pricing. My only issue is the phone hold times to speak to someone. Earlier in November, I was on hold for two hours before I could speak to someone and then found out I could not get a maintenance check scheduled for two months. One suggestion I have for them is a line specifically for service plan holders

I have HVAC units and service contracts from CM and have been a loyal customer for 20 years. 3 days ago our heat stopped working. We contacted CM and they said a service person would come that night between 6-10 pm. No call and no show. Yesterday they said they’d come between noon-5 pm. No one showed up or called again and still no heat. When I tried calling multiple times I was on hold forever and no one ever picked up. Tim Cropp needs to figure out why his company is failing its long-standing customers.

Have a service plan. Heat wasn't working and CM said they'd come between 6-10 pm. Never came and never called. Told us they'd come today between 12-5 pm and again never came or called so another night of freezing temperatures and no heat. We bought new HVAC and service plan from CM. Absolutely terrible unacceptable service. I think CM has gotten too big and can't service the customers they have.

Use them to replace the furnace about five years ago and AC unit several years later. Of the three estimates for the AC theirs was the middle. Life has taught me lowest comes with excuses and problems. Two techs came as scheduled, did the work and kept to the estimate. Have the annual maintenance plan since which is a deal. I'm always contacted spring and fall to clean and maintain the HVAC. No problems, no worries.

We signed for a Bronze maintenance service and when we called to schedule an appointment, nothing was available before a minimum of 6/8 weeks later! Each time I try to contact them, it is hours on the phone before being able to talk to a customer representative willing to address the issue. Just a frustrating experience.

Update: After many hours and people - I was finally able to talk to a very helpful and supportive person - and as far as I am concerned, the matter is resolved. My advice: If you need to schedule a maintenance - do so months in advance! I appreciate the business manager writing

I requested maintenance service from Cropp Metcalfe on heat pump after having B&B told me I needed a new unit for $11,000. I live in a townhouse in Bethesda. I knew I needed another opinion and contacted Cropp Metcalfe. Nelson was the technician. He was responsive and thorough and found the problem which was a contact on the outside unit. Instead of $11,000, it was around $300. I am grateful to Nelson and CroppMetcalfe.

As a part of a furnace replacement, we paid an allowance for a Fairfax County Permit. No permit was ever pulled and no inspection following, but Cropp Metcalfe kept the fee.

Buy a hot water heater, get a ruined lawn

I tried to submit this on your website but an error occurred right after I entered my name.

Three weeks ago I had a water heater installed. The technicians did a good job installing BUT, for some reason, they took the old water heater thru my front garden and onto the lawn. They must have stopped midway because the next morning I discovered three areas covered with sediment/sludge on the grass. I cleaned it up but two weeks ago I noticed the lawn was browning and the grass was dying.

I contacted my plumbing contact and sent him a picture of the lawn

We had a sewage flood in our basement over the weekend and scrambled to find a plumber at late notice. The call center was able to quickly find an available plumber and they arrived within the hour. Jarmel was very professional and explained the pricing thoroughly. There were no surprises and he unclogged out sewer line in under two hours.

I have had my air handling unit inside my condo under preventive maintenance with Cropp Metclaff for over 14 years. They are reliable dependable professional and always safe. Even more now they are doubly safe with their masks booties and gloves. I would recommend CroppMetcalfe to anyone who needs to have reliable air handling equipment maintained or a new unit installed.

We pay for a priority contract which gives us the ability to have them come out 24/7. We have a leak in the kitchen sick and their Tech declined to come out on a Sunday. We will be canceling our contract and go with McCarthy.

Signed up for an inspection/service 1-year contract. On arrival, tech announced it would be a good idea to replace the capacitor or it might go bad someday. Was charged $201 for it. Later, it turned out that the average capacitor for an AC unit costs around $5. Also, that they rarely go bad, it takes 20 years to need replacement, my unit is only 5years old. Feel I was taken, and cancelled the contract . Lesson learned--one easy way to make a lot of money, is to claim that something may break down and then overcharge for it. I thought it was pricey, but I'd never have known had I not checked

AVOID. Horrible experience. I was told to turn off my system - but not that doing so will cause coils to thaw and leak water. A few hours later and my basement carpet is soaked.

Then technician shows up at 10:00 pm for a 6-10pm service window. I pay promptly after the service was complete, but never got an invoice or receipt via email or otherwise.

I called to ask for a mere discount for future service to make up for the out-of-pocket cost for replacing my carpet pad. Nothing.

Disappointing. Will not use again.

Horrible service (for plumbing). We've used them for pest control and HVAC. Solid on those fronts. As far as plumbing services... unreliable and untruthful.

We're having back-up issues outside (basement drain). They've come to service our home multiple times, but they're ALWAYS late arriving, and when the tech gets here, he's tired and disheveled. One tech arrived at 9pm, left at 1030pm, didn't fix the problem, and even left his tools outside the basement door.

Every time a tech has left without fixing the problem, the tech told us that someone from Cropp would

It all began with an advertisement for a free inspection. They came out and did the inspection and at the end of the inspection they said that will be $105. I said, I thought it was a free inspection. They said if you have to do any repairs it is a minimum charge of $105. I said I would of told you to stop and not do any work if that was the case. I said, I wasn't paying and I get a bill in the mail a few weeks later. I call the service center and explained that I didn't authorize any work and in fact told them to stop when they said it's a

I have been using CroppMetcalfe for several years. I have a plan with them and they come out twice a year to do a checkup on the AC and boiler. They have been on time and go through the check up with no issues. So frankly that has been pretty much a 5 star service.

However, on the 19th of December just a week after the boiler maintenance had been done, the boiler stopped working. I called them and they came out on the 20th. After much investigation they determined that the damper motor was dying and not sending the proper signals which prevented the boiler from working. Right after that I called
