Oak-Land Custom Fireplaces was a great find on Yelp! My family and I were in desperate need of redoing our 1970s fireplace. It was one of the projects we held off when we first purchased our home.
I looked around to many different companies and made a request for a call and quote. Greg and Shelley answered my message within a couple of hours and came out the same day for an estimate. My wife spoke with Greg and said she really like him. He was a very friendly and likable person. Right away I knew he would be the one as my wife is a great judge of character.

I called and spoke to Greg. The next day he sent out Lorenzo to install three fireplace kits with reflective glass. Lorenzo was neat and very professional. He took the time to show me each fireplace and how it was working once he installed. They were reasonably priced and I was very happy with their work.

Our need was to take a faux fireplace in a 1930 Spanish Revival little house and make it an appropriately-sized working gas log fireplace that could heat up the house, too. No small job, and to be honest, FOUR fireplace companies told us to hire Oak-Land -- "they do this all the time." Super helpful to visit their showroom in Anaheim because this is a big decision. The installers were efficient and well-trained, friendly. We're now ready to tile and paint, it's a stunning job and exactly what we hoped for.

I was very happy to have found Greg and Shelley. I recently had a fireplace refacing done, and about halfway through the reface, I noticed the contractors were not working to code and I called a timeout. In came Oakland, who came out to provide options for how to correct it while saving as much of the work that had previously been done as possible. Greg was professional and realistic. He is a really good guy who wants to do the right thing for the customer. Rafael and his team did an excellent job, very detailed and efficient at reconstructing the fireplace. We had a roof leak that rusted out our firebox and needed to be replaced. Oakland custom fireplaces offered us tons of ideas on what we could do and couldn't be happier with the complete change of our room. So happy and highly recommend. My with Oakland Custom Fireplaces could not have been better! Greg Boswell was wonderful to work with, he was patient, listened to my concerns and was very responsive to them. Oakland demolished my 1970s ugly adobe red brick fireplace in one day and three days later, I have the most beautiful fireplace beyond my dreams --- with crisp white moldings and a clean coastal vibe. We had Oakland redo two fireplaces in our house. We learned the hard way that many general contractors don't have the expertise to do fireplaces. Afternoon having one done in our living room about seven years ago, we were unable to get a gas log because a general contractor left exposed wood under the stones. We were fortunate to find Oakland Custom fireplaces. We now have two completely remodeled and functioning gas fire places. One is modern and the other traditional. Greg and his team totally remodeled my two fireplaces and I couldn't be happier with the results. With 35 years of experience, Greg is very knowledgeable and professional. His services are competitively priced and excellent. Most of all, he is very honest. After I made my final payment, he called and asked if he could return to make an adjustment to the frame, in response to a new revised code. This procedure took his crew over a half a day to complete.

If I could give zero stars I would! Called Gregg on Monday 6-19-17 and scheduled an appointment for 11am on Thursday 6-22-17 (My day off). I get there at 10:30am and I wonder at their shop for 30 minutes with no one there at the front office to greet me or let alone help me. The only people there were the workers in the warehouse. At 11am I decided to ask a worker if Gregg was there, the worker looked at me puzzled and said "he is not here "do you have and appointment?" Oak-Land built us a custom stone fireplace and mantel, cabinets and bookcases on both sides of the fireplace, installed crown molding throughout the living room, and added electrical connections and conduit above the fireplace for mounting a TV. The project turned out great; we couldn't be happier. The Oak-Land team was very thorough, and clearly had a well-thought-out plan in working through the project. Every stage of the project went smoothly with no significant hiccups or delays. When they were finished with final paint touch up, everything looked great.

As you can see from my profile, I like to give positive reviews to deserving companies. What started out as a positive experience with this company turned out quite poorly.
They installed a fireplace for me and did drywall work. On the positive side, they showed up on time each day and took every reasonable precaution to protect the rest of the house from dust and damage.
Unfortunately, there were significant problems.
Strike 1: They built a very sturdy fireplace frame at the wrong height, preventing a recess per the plan. Due to the extensive rework involved to fix it, I let it go. Now

This review is long overdue...My husband and I are very satisfied customers! The fireplace remodel was supposed to take 10 days, but the job was done in 5 days. We've been getting a lot of compliments on the fireplace, especially with the mantel- it's definitely a statement piece. The wall to the right side of the fireplace had wall paneling and they removed and replaced it with a new dry wall for free. Also, they installed the wall mount for the TV for free (and they were more than happy to move the wall mount a couple of inches higher after they had installed it since we later changed

These guys are top notch. They are your one stop place to get your fireplace remodeled. Everything in their showroom is done for a standard cost that includes everything, ie. any wall patching and all the hidden costs that you don't think of when undertaking this endeavor. They replaces crown molding and baseboards and even ripped out the current wall paneling and fixed the drywall. This was done for $3700 out the door. Oakland Custom Fireplace did an outstanding job on our new fireplace. We replaced it from top to bottom, including a new wall vent box. Our first meeting with Gregg and Shelley at the showroom went very well, they answered all our concerns and questions. We had at least four companies out for quotes and thier's was the most reasonable as well.

While Oakland Custom Fireplaces does have a beautiful show room they lack in showing up and follow up. We made an appointment with them for this past Saturday for 4pm for someone to come out and give us an estimate. As we had pictures in hand and were eager to go over some of the ideas that we thought may look good for our unfinished fireplace. Unfortunately we waited & waited, we received no phone call, and we have yet to receive follow up or a message. This is simply bad business! We will be looking elsewhere for our dream fireplace.
