Putnam Consulting, Inc.'s areas of expertise are roof consulting and building leak analysis. Our founder, Don Putnam, started his roofing and waterproofing business in Austin and Central Texas in 1966 and has worked as an independent professional construction consultant since 1984.
The investigative and diagnostic methods we have developed over the last 37 years have proven effective on thousands of roof inspections, building envelope inspections, and even the most difficult water intrusion projects.Construction defects in roofs and other elements of the building envelope are involved in the majority of all construction litigation.
This is the leading liability concern for architects, engineers, and building contractors. We work with builders and architects to ensure that work is done properly. Additionally, we frequently provide expert testimony and construction litigation support for contractors, home owners, commercial building owners, school districts, and insurance companies.

Stacie Putnam began working part-time with her father at Putnam Construction Consulting in 2005 while still in college. Under the tutelage of her father, she quickly became skilled at identifying the signs and sources of water intrusion. Stacie graduated from St. Edward's University in 2011 with a Bachelor in Business Administration with a Concentration in Entrepreneurship and began working full-time for Putnam Construction Consulting.
Putnam Consulting, Inc. provides Construction Consulting Services, such as, roof consulting and building envelope consulting for residential and commercial clients. Each job is tailored to the specific client and their goals. Some inspections are as simple as a brief one hour overview with a verbal report.
Roof inspections are important for a variety of reasons. Many times a roof inspection is required prior to closing on commercial or residential real estate. Residential roof inspections are different than commercial roof inspections. Unfortunately, most roof consultants have no interest in residential projects because they are smaller jobs with smaller fees.
The Building Envelope or Building Enclosure is comprised of all the components meant to stop building leaks. For example, the layers of materials that make up your exterior walls, window assemblies, doors, and roof are all parts of the Building Envelope. In short, these components are intended to work together to keep rain and other elements out.
We offer stucco inspection and building leak detection services for residential and commercial buildings using the latest technology and good, old fashioned common sense. We have been doing this for a very long time and we are good at it. Stucco provides a beautiful and durable exterior finish for any home or commercial building, but it can and often does allow water penetration which can lead to serious water damage in exterior walls.

I served as the director of my HOA Condominium board after purchasing an older condo out by the lake about 10 years ago. A year or so after living there I received a 9k hoa assessment for new roofs needed from my local hoa board. Little did I know that this roofing problem had been going on for 3 decades. We were looking at getting new roofs installed on 12 different flat roofed type buildings. I was in college at the time and looking back really didn't know exactly what I was doing except for the fact that I needed to find a highly qualified individual to help prove to our insurance company

We recently had a leaky roof problem that was causing damage to the foundation of our house. We called out 2 contractors, 2 roofers and a structural engineer without finding the leak. Then we had Don Putnam over and he found the leak in a place that no one else had looked. Thank you Don for a great job finding the leak. Worth every penny and then some. We fully recommend calling Don first to find that difficult leak.

Don Putnam is an excellent roofing consultant. He helped us 25 years ago when we put a roof on a previous house. Thankfully, he is still consulting and has been able to evaluate the declining roof on the house we now live in. I have and will continue to recommend him to friends in need of roofing expertise. Ultimately, have saved money by understanding what to do and when to do it.

Don Putnam is a professional who has been in the business for over 30 years. After checking out his web site and seeing his resume, I contacted Don. He listened to my problem, spelled out exactly what he would do and his hourly rate, including travel time. He also clearly said that I could take notes or record him to save the cost of his writing a detailed report, and that I could call him to clarify any questions. He is not inexpensive, but he is worth every penny. After his initial inspection of my house, Don correctly diagnosed my problems and, again, spelled out his recommendations and costs
