Just read some reviews, new and old, and felt compelled to put my 2 cents in. I used this shop to inspect my wood burning fireplace when I bought my home and then perform annual or biannual chimney sweeps and they were always on time and reasonably priced and professional. I haven't spent time inside the shop asking questions so cannot speak to the adequacy of the in-shop staff but by phone, I've had no issues. I also had them come replace a portion of the interior wall inside the fireplace and that was no problem at all. During the latter, I asked them if they could install circulation fans inside

This review is only about their customer service not their actual work. They cancelled the first appointment the morning they were supposed to come & then showed up late for the second appointment. Their worker denied he was late & basically mocked me for being upset he was late. They never contacted me after that to reschedule or ask what happened.
This is all after waiting over a week for them to return my initial call. You'd think they would at least *try* at providing any type of positive customer service but I guess they are too busy to care.

I just called to inquire if Hearth and Stove had installed any gas fireplaces in my building (my condo is just a few blocks from the store). i was told rather unpleasantly that "H&S doesn't track installations by address. do i know of anyone in my building who might have had H&S install a gas unit?" dear, if i knew that, i would have spoken with them, not called you. someone just lost a potential customer.

Horrible customer service.. I set up an appointment for estimate and took off work for this. An hour after they said they would be here for the appoint I got a call that there was no need for him to come out for the estimate and that they could provide me with this over the phone. I mean if this was the case why make an appointment with me in the first place. After receiving the estimate I called and emailed the contact there several times about the next steps in getting someone out here for installation and no response. It been almost two weeks now and I still havent heard back its ok tho because

They planned to do stucco and paint repair on the side of my house, they gave me an estimate. I assume this meant they knew what the job entails. The job got postponed because of rain and now late into the season they come to the house and said that they can't do it because they don't have the right equipment. Now I have to scramble to find another contractor in late November who can do stucco repair and paint before the weather gets too cold.
They did do chimney repair for me in the spring and on that occasion the work and workmanship was excellent. I'm confident that if they were able to do

Store clerk was not very knowledgeable about stove installation.
The technician came early to my appointment, but never called back to provide the estimate. Presumably the Job was too small or too complex, but nonetheless I was going to buy a stove from them based on the recommendations. I will go elsewhere based on my experience.
