It’s a bit of a roll of the dice when working with All Surfaces. Office staff provided plenty of options, made recommendations, and were clear on the contract. When complete, the final product was as advertised by the head office. Problem was that the flooring installers that were sub-contracted out…were a nightmare.
We had one room out of scope of the project floored at the expense of a bathroom that was in scope. Finishing the bathroom that was in scope caused a day’s delay in the project.

Worked with Shelby Hill and her understudy Marie on my mid century modern master bathroom remodel. The whole process was exceedingly professional and quick. A site visit to our home with an eye to blend style with our already remodeled kitchen was first step. Shelby then used our ideas and helped us modify the layout and then selected tile, stone and hardware in conjunction with our advice. The end result was incredible. She was available to aid our contractor during construction with small details while we wintered in a sunny clime. Sounds perfect, well it was.

We contacted All Surfaces to replace a countertop in our master bathroom, after seeing what a great experience some close friends had using them to install their new quartz kitchen countertops. We picked out a quartz remnant for our bathroom and it's absolutely beautiful! We worked with Anfisa to get the process started, and she made the whole process so simple and easy for us. Had a very good first meeting (by appointment) with Shelby, she showed us several good candidates for kitchen tile. We made an appointment for early next week to have their estimator come out to measure, which will result in a written estimate. Next step after that would be installation by one of their subcontractors. Easy peasy so far, I'll update as this progresses.
Update: the estimator, Lance, was very professional and well informed. A+. We have their installer coming out next week. Really happy with the process and the people!

We ended up selecting another contractor merely related to timing, but otherwise we would've used A-1 no problem. I requested a quote through Yelp! and received a response with 24 hours. After getting a sense of what our project needs were, they had someone out at our home to bid the project within a few days! In this era of more work than contractors this was unexpected. I appreciated their willingness to address our needs even though we were not yet a confirmed client. They were friendly and incredibly easy to communicate with over phone and email. They say if you request a quote you will get a response in about a day. Four days later no response. I call, oh "we didn't get your e-mail." Oh wait, here I see it (no apology). Then I promise to share some photos so they can prepare an estimate. I send the photos. Oh wait. Again no response!! Days go by. I send another e-mail. A week later no response.

After visiting a number of very nice tile showrooms and getting pricing on tiles for our new home, A-1 was the last place I visited. First impression was that this small place wouldn't have much but I was blown away. Not only did they carry a large selection, they also had stickers on those choices within my budget and even better, a real designer (Michele) who spent a lot of time helping me put together the right looks for each bathroom. She had a wonderful eye for design but always stayed mindful of our tight budget. We were so please, we also purchased our quartz through A-1 and again got advice

The best! We had recently moved to Portland and purchased a townhouse in horrible condition that needed new carpet & flooring (among many other things). A-1 is in NW and is small shop focused on customer care. I personally like to shop in smaller stores, not giant warehouses where too many choices can bog you down. Michelle was very helpful in narrowing even further and creating a cohesive look while understanding our needs.

I bought my first house recently and the carpet was a mess. I've never had to buy new carpet before so I didn't really know where to start. So I just figured I'd get as many bids as I could so I'd make sure I wasn't getting ripped off. A friend of mine had used A-1 to buy some tile and hardwood and got a good deal so I called them. Of the four bids I got the one from A-1 was by far the best deal, and I just felt comfortable with the owner because you could tell he knew what he was doing and had been around a long time. The installation went smooth, the carpet looks great
