Dale Aman who had been in sales and management with The Bekins Company in San Francisco and Oakland since 1966, founded A and P Moving, Inc. in 1989 and established his own Novato Bekins agency in 1990. A and P Moving, Inc. is owned by Dale, his son Darin Aman, and his daughter Darcy Aman Quinn. Dale is retired, and Darin and Darcy run the day to day aspects of the company.

The company made a move as simple as can be. The pickup from two different apartments was done within about 4-5 hours and the workers made sure to meticulously track everything that they were taking away. You will not have any worries about anything being lost (they then give you the inventory sheet on your move-in, so you can cross everything off). The move-in was also very simple and the company was accommodating and sent three movers (instead of two from the move-out) due to the inconvenient layout of the apartment. So, my Dad and I have used these guys more than several times over the years - We have been mostly pretty happy with their services. We really like the guys running the show. Unfortunately, this last time I used them, it was to move out of state - to Texas. I have these family heirlooms - antiques - handed down through 4 generations now, that were damaged. I bought a $100,000.00 insurance policy - cost me $495.00 for no deductible. More than $7000.00 for the move. For each of the items that were damaged, their own employees packed these items. The 3-person crew that handled our move could not have better! They worked efficiently/effectively and not a step was wasted. They worked as a team and as my husband and I continued to pack the remaining items, the foreman offered helpful guidance when we needed assistance on packing a particularly difficult item. They were friendly and given the stress of moving, they actually made it fun. We did a lot of laughing throughout the day. Laughter truly is the best medicine.

I just moved across country and I was very panicked. I have not moved in over 30 years and I needed a lot of help. AandP was recommended to me by someone who has coordinated a lot of moves in and out of Northern California. I'm so glad I took this advice. Starting with Darcy, who makes life so easy and was so calm. Everything went exactly as she said it would, like clockwork. People were unfailingly professional and polite. I am so pleased and it made moving so much less traumatic than I anticipated.

Check Consumer Affairs. I have never worked with a more shady company than Bekins and A and P Moving. They came out and gave us an estimate for our move out of state and for using their storage services for 3 months. Mr. Kerr underestimated the weight by half! So they kept our belongings in their storage facility for months without ever giving us the courtesy of a phone call to let us know that the cost of our move would double! Additionally, A and P Moving sold us an insurance package and told us we could cancel it anytime before the moving truck left their warehouse in Novato, which we did

We hired them to move our stuff out of storage into our new home. The head mover had a bad attitude to begin with -- he continually grumbled about the number of boxes we had, even though he wasn't actually doing the heavy lifting-- his crew was. When they were just about done with the move he tried lifting our dining table by himself and dropped it. The leg broke. One would think we would have received a call from their main office apologizing but instead we got a three month runaround as we tried to get reimbursement for a new table. We used A&P, a part of Wheaton Worldwide/Bekins, in our move from CA to AZ and every step of the move was a disaster. Bekins couldn't find a driver; our goods left CA after the guaranteed delivery date. In AZ, there was no crew to unload, so it took 4 days rather than one. Bekins wouldn't pay the claim for the full delay, only until the truck showed up even though our bed wasn't unpacked. Substantial damage and items missing which again they wouldn't pay in full, claiming they had no responsibility for things that didn't arrive, even though we paid them to pack

A&P moved me from Petaluma to San Francisco, and i am delighted with how well everything went, especially since my San Francisco apartment was what they call a "long carry" with a small elevator to the third floor at the end of the carry. Even with that, the charge came in under the quote! The men were blazingly efficient and the move went down with no problems. I recommend them highly.

The worst packers ever. Things thrown into boxes A wood sculpture in one box and it's stand in another. A hand hammered bell is still Missing but the pillow it sat on and the striker were in separate boxes. CD trays that had been organized were removed from their trays. Marie and I have been referring A & P for the better part of twenty years and we wanted to give a glowing review for this most recent move in particular. Our client had a complicated and fairly long distance move that involved many fragile antiques and collectibles to be transported from Mill Valley to Southern California. Everything was handled with the utmost care and consideration. Our seller had moved several times prior and exclaimed that this company was by far the most professional she has ever worked with.

I just used their on site shredding services and I am very happy with them.
They arrived within the time window that they gave us all the way out in Point Reyes.
Jose, the technician, was very professional and did much of the loading work. He also showed me where I can watch the files getting shredded
I had about 4 bins worth of banker boxes prepared and we had them done in less than 30 minutes.
I would definitely recommend and use them again.

Shredding service: you know those guys will make money even if they shredded for free. They sell this paper.
Called them to replace my broken box. They said that I need to return it all together unless I sign up for monthly service. I said let me finish my box, as I have done in the last two years, and then you can cancel my service. The same guy who sold me on my current arrangement told me he never made the commitment and challenged me to produce the contract. A lair, going back on his commitment for the sake of $20-30 or something, kept me on the phone bulling me to shred earlier than

A&P helped us with a local move yesterday and the four person team was amazing. They showed up right on time at 8am with great 'let's get it done' attitudes, and sometimes literally whistling while they worked. They loaded up in an hour and off we went 10 minutes down the street to our new apartment.

Mixed thoughts; probably a 2.5. Movers showed up on time and came in under budgeted quote (good). Not everything, however, made its way to destination with some small things being left behind - ran out of space in the truck - and some things gone missing (not so good). All in all, if you need a move under market cost while accepting some headaches along the way, here you go...
