Although this business is indexed as being skylight installers, a communication from Gustavo Guerrero, who is the president of Ben's Roofing, responded to my query about installing skylights in my home with the following: " Unfortunately, we only install skylights as part of a new roof installation at single family residences." Further, he went on to state "We do not provide repairs to single family residences. We only install new roofs at single family residences." At least the response was timely. Perhaps they should manage their ads so that there is greater truth

Gustavo with Ben's Roofing is a honest and reliable person to work with. His crews are professional and respectful to everyone. Our complex is undergoing a roof replacement. It is often loud and dusty due to the nautre of the job. They always knock on the door before starting their work and notify the homeowner of their presence. If there are large chunk of debris landing on the patio, I'd let them know and they will quickly clean it up. It's been difficult juggling working from home with the noise so i try to schedule calls later in the day. The forman is generally easy

Please explain the additional thousands costs you added to the original proposal to 19983 Santa Maria Ave, Castro Valley, CA. It may be justified, but the information isn't being passed onto the HOA Board.
On 12/7/2019, we believe Ben's Roofing put a hole in the roof in the attic space, and no one at Ben's Roofing let anyone know. We are investigating as this is a very serious development.
Will be updating as things progress.

Terrible work and complete misdiagnosis of the problem. Gustavo’s attitude was rude, know it all, but really knew nothing about our problem and couldn’t fix the leak that was found not even close to their diagnosed area. Others needed to come to do the job properly. Ben’s made a big mess for nothing.

This review is a little overdue, but I though I'd finally write one, given all the rain we've been having this winter. Our roof was replaced by Ben's Roofing in November/December 2015 in anticipation of El Nino (who knew at the time that this winter would be much, much worse). Chris provided a very thorough quote and answered my many questions. We opted for the Golden Pledge Warranty for extended protection. The job took a little longer than anticipated due to issues with our older skylights and rain in the schedule. Sometimes we didn't receive as much communication as we would

I definitely recommend Ben's Roofing if you want professional qualified installers with good communication working on your roof. We started looking into fixing our roof in December / January. It was not easy to find a roofer, but I managed to get 3 bids. Ben's Roofing was not the cheapest bid, but they were the most qualified and trustworthy to do the type of roof we were looking for (PVC) and in a timely manner. Chris at Ben's roofing was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to answer all my questions. I really appreciated the level of communication Chris put into the questions

We own rentals in Berkeley and needed to have our roofs inspected for leaks and repairs. Chris came out on 1/30/15 to give us an estimate for repairs and replacement. He did his inspection and gave us his overall assessment. We agreed with him and he said he would email us an estimate within a couple weeks. As of today, 3/23/15, we have not heard back from Chris. I am now contacting others contractors for bids. Of the half dozen companies that I tried to contact to get a semi-emergency repair done during last month's rain, this company answered me on the first try. I give them some slack for lack of communication due to probably every roofing company getting slammed at the time, but every conversation I had, regardless of time of day, was professional and I wasn't on hold for long.
As for the two guys who came out, they were professional and had a good sense of humor I appreciated. They were also quick (or maybe I just know how long it takes to repair a bullet hole in a roof). All things considered

We were very impressed by Ben's Roofing. They were highly recommended to us by friends who own a large residential property management company. They came a day early to check things out and were very efficient from start to finish: permitting, removal, repair, installation and final city inspection all done seamlessly; and kept us informed throughout. The entire job was done in 2.5 days, ahead of schedule. The staff worked smoothly and efficiently, and were always polite and accommodating. The grounds were kept clean at all times and our plants were undisturbed. Our roof is beautiful

We hired Ben's Roofing to replace our home's roof (Maxwell Park, Oakland), add gutters and downspouts, and to make some structural improvements to enhance drainage. Gustavo and his team were highly responsive and thoughtfully engaged at all points before, during, and after the job. Their attention to detail is superb, as is their workmanship. Highly recommend!
