Joe from Sierra roofing and solar came out and gave us an estimate to replace our roof and gutters. We got 2 other bids and to be honest Sierra's was the highest but Joe knows his stuff and explained the details about roofs and gutters, warranties etc... so well that my wife and I went with them. Another thing we considered is that they have been in business for many years so they'll be there down the road if anything happens. The tear down of the old roof and installation went perfectly! I'm a meticulous project manager. I track all large/small details. I'm also hard to please. This was my first roofing job. Scheduled an appointment for roof replacement consultation. The following week this company was relentless with email and text appointment reminders every other day. Kind of annoying but reassuring at the same time. Day of scheduled appointment get a call from tech that they will not be able make it and can they reschedule for the following week. This is at 9:30am, likely the first or second appointment of the day. No thanks, you wasted enough of my time and expect me to accommodate you by taking more time off work? Moving on.

I gave the company 5 stars, but I should be clear that all that happened was an inspection of my roof (they have yet to do any work for my roof). Nevertheless, I will praise them about these things:
1) Scheduling an appointment with Rhonda was a breeze, and she was prompt about emailing me a copy of their insurance (which I required before I had someone climb on top of my roof).
2) They have a good system for confirming the appointment. They include a picture of the person who will be showing up, which is a nice touch.

Our garage gets so hot in the summer, we decided to put in one of those whirly vents in the roof to help ventilate. I put in a bid request through yelp and a few different companies called back. One company gave us a quote for around $5000, talking about rebuilding most of our roof, and Sierra roofing gave us a quote for under $2000, to do exactly what we had asked. We had to wait awhile to fit into their schedule, as apparently they are quite busy. This is actually a good thing, it means people like them and hire them. They came, all wearing masks, and got the work done quickly. No mess left

We have used Sierra Roofing for two different roofing projects. Both came out perfectly. We had them replace the flat portion of our roof and put in a walkable deck space. And recently, they replaced the back of our roof, which is a combination tiles and shingles. Both projects were perfectly completed. Just as importantly, these folks are fast, professional during the quoting process, project communication, daily job clean up, and follow up/paperwork/billing. I highly recommend them.

We didn't end up going with Sierra for the replacement of our roof, but Chris was able to fit us in for a site review quickly and was very informative and thorough in his quote. Terrible!! Do not hire.
We had a leak in our roof during a rainstorm, and Sierra was the only company we could find to come out and put a tarp on it right away. I appreciated their quick help, and since they had great ratings on Yelp we hired them to do $6500 worth of repairs and maintenance on our roof.
Fast forward into the next rainy season, and our roof continued to leak. Sierra came out several times to work on it and assured me they would make things right, but their fixes never solved the problem.
During a big rainstorm, we had water soaking down the ceiling and into the wall. The

This was a slam dunk ! The work they did was on time , fast and very efficient. The main reason I am writing this review is that the communication from the beginning was superior and a pleasure. Joe came in at the beginning and sold me (and I had 5 roofing companies come in before I decided to hire Sierra), but not in a car salesman way of selling but he sold me on the product. I reached out to Sierra Roofing through Yelp and received a super speedy response with an appointment, which was great! Prior to my appointment, I received a text with the estimator's contact info so I would know who to expect. They actually showed up when they said they would and after inspecting my roof, they said they are booking out 1.5 weeks so it would be no trouble getting the work scheduled. Manny came out to give us our initial quote. Very competitive with other roofing and solar installers (including Costco). I liked the fact they were a one stop shop so no coordination of services. They handled all in house. Manny did a phenomenal job of answering all of my questions and being available by cell whenever I had another question or concern.

We had our roof in Oakland redone by Sierra and are very pleased with the results. Compared with other bids the quality of the roofing product they use (Landmark Solaris by Certainteed) had unique features such as invisible venting along the ridge lines, asphalt shingles that meet CA Cool Roof requirements, a lifetime transferable guarantee on the materials, and a 10 year warranty from Sierra on the workmanship. After doing my research and speaking with 8 roofing companies, I found Chris at Sierra Roofing. He was very educated on roofs and was willing to work with me on price. They are very competitive when it comes to pricing.

Chris, with Sierra, came out to give me an estimate for a new roof as well as a solar system. Had to wait almost three weeks for this estimate visit because they are "so busy". Well, it's been two weeks and I still don't have an estimate.
Perhaps if Chris had taken as much time working the actual math of my estimate as he did sitting with me, showing me useless "Diamond Certifications" and warning me off other, unknown suspicious contractors (you know, ones that actually prepared ahead of time, and offered me a contract) I wouldn't be so angry for my wasted

Called Sierra for a roofing replacement quote and they came out to meet with me and said they would provide the quote but never did. I followed-up them again and they said they would send it to me but again they never did. As you can imagine I ended up going with another roofing company that was responsive.
