Top down burning is the cleanest way you can build and burn a fire. Starting fires this way slowly warms up the flue while also creating the least amount of smoke. This is the easiest way to clean out ash from your fireplace. We don't really like ash dumps in homes that have living spaces in the basement or hard to access cleanouts.

Called to get a quote to understand their chimney sweep pricing and was immediately asked if I was “price shopping”. After saying I was calling around to get quotes, was told that they were not interested. Wouldn’t tell me the price or help me understand why they might price more than others but might be worth it.
Too bad I burn several cords of wood a year in my wood burning insert and would need a sweep every year.

The technicians showed up an hour and a half early at a time that no one was supposed to be home yet. I just happened to be home because I was just leaving to go to work. I said that they were supposed to be there an hour and a half later than they were and that no one would be home until then because my wife was going to be home over her lunch. They abrasively said that if they didn't do the inspection right then, then they wouldn't do it at all and said that they weren't going to wait around for an hour and a half. Again they were there well before the appointed time and they were being nasty

I was told I would be charged $99 for an inspection and $99 for the cleaning. That sounded great, so I made the appointment. They gave me the time and date with a two hour window for their service. The day of my appt. I received a text with a reminder of my appointment. No one showed up, there was 30 minutes left on my appointment window and I called to see where they were. I was then told that the technician had an emergency and couldn't make it. They were apologetic and got me in the next day with a 10% discount for my trouble. Super kind.

TL;DR - Shady company, zero stars, would not recommend
DO NOT USE - We called and scheduled a cleaning with them prior to a gas inset fireplace installation. The dispatcher said they could get us in prior to that day. I took off of work to be there for it, and they did not arrive. The only updates I got were when I called. They said they were not able to make it because the tech was having a technical issue. They rescheduled for the day before our install. I took off of work again, and they missed that window too. The company said they would be there before the appointment to do the cleaning.

Victor does a great job. I have had him clean and inspect my fireplaces and chimneys. He never makes / leaves a mess in the house. I also refer my home buyer clients to him. He does a great job explaining how fireplaces and chimneys work and if any repairs are needed. Repair prices are reasonable ( I have shopped around).
