One of the most professional contractors I've dealt with. Communication was clear all through the process, both from the field personnel and from the office. There was a bit of a wait, but the office was in constant communication to keep me informed. The quality of the finished work was excellent. I'm very pleased, and will probably hire them again to install a stove insert.

After a quick inspection by Louis which surfaced some potential issues with my chimney, I was lucky enough to have Brandon come out and help me with some preventative maintenance to keep my chimney safe for the long term. Over many hours, Brandon meticulously built a new chimney crown , cleaned organic material from the surface down to the roofline, installed some new black masonry counter flashing, installed a stainless steel chimney cap, sealed the cap, and cleaned out my fireplace and added sand for the burner with emberglow. He did all this with a craftsman's touch, resulting in a finished

Chimney was perhaps 50+ years old, back of firebox had large crack,, flue plate was jammed open. Received three bids and went with PF&C as they presented the most detailed inspection, analysis, recommendation for essentially the same price as others. Longer wait than I expected, but excellent, thorough work. Multiple teams over 4 days (cleaning out smoke chamber of 50 years of debris & creosote, rebuilding back of firebox, fixing damper, cleaning & sealing chimney stack, adding cap...). Very considerate, clean. Highly recommend.

We asked them for a bid on chimney repair. They replied it would cost $279 for their "24 point inspection". When I replied to decline and explained that I have never heard of being charged for a bid, Arica explained they don't make free bids in the busy season. That speaks volumes about their bottom line. It sure isn't customer service.

We recently had to have our entire metal fireplace and chimney replaced due to water damage. We got three estimates. Louis Lee of Portland Fireplace and Chimney did the most thorough examination of the damage and gave us the most detailed explanation of what had gone wrong and what was required. He was also the only one of the three to mention either safety concerns or homeowners' insurance. We chose PFC do the work. Everyone involved was terrific. They went above and beyond in terms of communicating both with us and with our insurance company, and Jake, the mason who rebuilt our slate fireplace
