Raymond is a third-generation carpenter, and a second-generation flooring mechanic, with 20-plus years of experience. Cromwell Hill Wood Flooring started when Ray realized that all his peers who were finishing up collage with every degree you can imagine couldn't find work. He left art school and started Cromwell Hill flooring, named after the street where he grew up.
Today, Cromwell Hill is establishing itself as a high-quality floor installation business known for exquisite craftsmanship, with over 15 years of professional service for clients and projects ranging from big to small. We have remodeled, sanded, finished and installed a countless number (easily in the thousands) of commercial and residential projects.

Services
Remove all furniture from the room. If the room is opened to another room/area of the house, cover furniture with bed sheets or drop cloth. Removal of wall decor will ensure their safety from sander and hammering vibrations, and light dust build up. Take your pets to a friend's house or keep them locked in an area of the house away from the floors being worked on.
Sweep or vacuum your hardwood floor on a regular basis (about once a week) just as you would any floor covering. Make sure no rocks or pebbles get lodged in the bristles, they will cause damage to your finish. DO NOT use abrasive or harsh chemicals such as ammonia, dish washing detergent, powdered all-purpose cleaner, Endust, Pledge, Swiffer, Murphy's Oil Soap or any type of wax or silicone base products on your floor.

Ray is an exceptional craftsman. He has a meticulous attention to detail and his work speaks for it. He is reasonably priced and extremely easy to work with. He refinished the hardwood floors in our home, and after catching a few spots he missed on the initial sand, was thorough and went back over his work to make sure it was done right.
Would highly recommend Cromwell Hill Flooring and will use Ray again anytime we are dealing with hardwood floors. No need to go to anyone else! Top-notch quality.

Ray is the working owner of Cromwell Hill. He is one of several contractors I interviewed for my floor refinishing project. I understand Ray is originally from NY area where many of his family members are in flooring business. He is serious to deliver quality work in the agreed time frame: somebody you can leave your house keys and stay out while work is being done. I wasn't asked but wished to post this review.

I wish I could give Cromwell Hill 10 stars!
Original hardwood floors are a precious commodity, but do not fear! You will be in good hands with Cromwell Hill.
I did all my research and interviewed several flooring companies and Ray of Cromwell Hill was by far the most knowledgeable, fairly priced, and skilled of the group.
Our 100+ year old original hardwood floors were hidden under paint, roofing tar (!), 2 layers of linoleum and carpet. Ray was undaunted by this particularly challenging job and he totally killed it. He even matched the stain and finish to our other existing refinished floors

I am updating my review for 2019. We just had Ray come into our new house and lay down new hardwood in the family room (It was originally carpeted) and sand and refinish what existing hardwood there was with a darker stain. We had a specific vision in mind and we were hoping Ray would help us to achieve it... let me just say we are not disappointed. Ray made sure to understand the aesthetic we going for and offered up multiple custom colors for our review, including a color he searched for at 3 different places because he knew it would help to a acheive the affect we were looking for. Once he added

Ray did an amazing job with our floors. Having just bought a new house and wanting to get the floors redone before moving in, he helped squeeze us into his schedule. Communicating with him was easy, and we usually just texted for little things and called for anything needing discussion. Ray put down 12 different colors (6 stains, water popped and not) for us to select the perfect color for the house. Overall, he did a fantastic job, and I couldn't recommend him enough.

A good friend highly recommended Ray at Cromwell Hill refinish my floors. Fortunately this friend just had Ray refinish his floors, so I already knew that when it comes to doing first rate work on old floors, Ray is the man! Oh yeah, I should also mention Ray's price was by far the most reasonable of the three estimates I received.

What a great experience! Ray was awesome. We were nervous to do our floors and had been putting it off thinking it would be a huge hassle. So glad we went with Cromwell Hill. Ray helped every step of the way, helping move all our furniture out, cleaning and prepping the house, sealing off areas, sanding, sealing, and moving our house back in!! Wow!! Our home looks beautiful, our floors are safe, no more splinters, the kids can slide across the floor again.
If it sounds like we're happy, that's because we are!!

Ray is a true craftsman! He responded immediately, stopped by within a day, and gave us a quote via email over the weekend. We did not have a glamorous project: he removed several layers of linoleum and the original pine floor and then installed oak flooring to match the rest of our house. Several other companies didn't want to do the work because they didn't think it was worth it. Ray was straight-forward and honest and the price he charged was beyond reasonable for the amount of labor involved. Our kitchen looks amazing and blends seemlessly with the rest of the oak floors in our 1933 house,

Ray responded immediately with great professionalism to all of my flooring needs. His work is of the highest standards at a very reasonable price. His commitment to get the job done in a very short timeline saved me a huge expense.
I highly recommend him and his work. You will find he is a rare professional who cares about his clients and the quality of his work.
