In 1983, with a small loan from his father, Bobby Alvarez was able to combine his love of design and construction and created Alvarez Homes. The quality of design and construction of an Alvarez home was recognized quickly not only by a growing list of happy clients but also by the Builder's Association of Greater Tampa's Parade of Homes, winning Best of Show in 1986 for his Sand Castle home design.

Buyer beware! After giving an initial $10,000 deposit to Alvarez homes, and a month later being asked for another $45,000 despite only having met with Mr. Alvarez once in the interim, we decided to discontinue our project. Bobby Alvarez refused to produce a detailed accounting of funds used, after multiple requests, and refused to refund any of the deposit. We have built multiple homes in the past and understand how funds are usually allocated. We did not ask for a full refund and wanted to cover all work completed and effort to date but also felt we were owed a simple accounting. A one hour
